Emergency Preparedness - Are you prepared?

Through our Public Health Preparedness & Response (PHP&R) program, the Northampton County Health Department's Preparedness Coordinator, along with local emergency management and first responders, aim to work with the community to keep Northampton County citizens prepared and safe during any disaster.  

It is important that you and your family are prepared for any disaster or emergency situation.  Please take time to sit down with your family and make a safe evacuation route and first aid kit for your home.  Below is a link from the Department of Health and Human Services that list items that are recommended for making a first aid kit and a basic emergency kit.

Hurricane Season is upon us.  This season began June 1st and ends November 30th.  Whether it is a tropical storm or a Category 5 hurricane approaching, citizens need to be prepared for what may occur.  Listed below is a list of resources that describe food and water safety, injury prevention, and more.  Please call Northampton County Health Department at 534-5841 if you have any questions on hurricane preparedness.

Health Education is an important factor in keeping Northampton County citizens healthy. Northampton County Health Department has two health educators on staff who offer education and information on a

New mothers receive a packet of information for each trimester she reaches with factors she needs to be aware of during each stage of her pregnancy in the Maternity Health clinic on Mondays. The health educator reviews this information and answers all questions the patient may have.

Family Planning education is also offered through the Family Planning clinic on Wednesdays. Information on the different methods of birth control, self-breast exams, etc. is available.

Northampton County Health Department health educators work hard to recognize the needs and risks in this county. This information is compiled and ultimately results in the Northampton County

Northampton County Health Department also participates in the Healthy Carolinians Taskforce, which among other things, addresses a specific national health observance every month.

One of the health educators also serves as the Health Department's Preparedness Coordinator. She works closely with Public Health Preparedness Regional offices, Emergency Management, EMS, and Local Law Enforcement to ensure that the community is prepared for any kind of disaster whether it be pandemic flu, hurricanes, tornados, floods, terrorist attacks, etc.

Northampton County Health Department General Clinic

Immunizations: 

Provided through various clinics and general clinic daily 8:30-4:00

All recommended Childhood immunizations and Adolescent immunizations.

Adult immunizations: including tetanus, flu and pneumonia

Immunization Schedules from CDC

Annual tracking of county children birth through two to assure immunization compliance

Rabies vaccination for subsequent doses after initial treatment

Flu Vaccines Now Available

Flu vaccines are now available Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.  There is no charge for Medicare/Medicaid recipients; just bring your card.  All others $35.00. No appointment necessary.

Your vaccine information is added to the North Carolina State Immunization Registry.

General Clinic

Services Provided:

  • COVID - 19 vaccines (by appointment)
  •   The following do not require an appointment:
  • Blood pressure, glucose and hemoglobin screenings
  • Pregnancy testing and counseling
  • Immunizations
  • Sick visits
  • Sexually Transmitted disease screening, treatment provided based on protocol and standing orders  (Treatment of contacts provided.)
  • Tuberculosis screening via skin tests and questionnaires for high risk individuals

Clinic Hours:

Monday - Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

 

 

 

Home Health Care

Northampton County Home Health Agency has provided home care services to patients in Northampton County since 1976. The Agency is owned and operated by the Northampton County Local Government and housed in the Northampton County Health Department.  Home Health services through NCHAA are available to those who:

  • Live in Northampton County or the surrounding area
  • Are in need of home health services
  • Are under the care of a doctor

Home Health Care is provided by a highly trained staff working directly under the written orders of your doctor. Services are provided in the comfort of your home. Sevices may include:

Skilled Care:

  • Skilled Nursing
  • Physical Therapy
  • Speech Therapy
  • Occupational Therapy
Support Services
  • Home Health Aides
  • Northampton County Home Health Agency coordinates services with other health agencies in this area to assure the most comprehensive level of care to our patients.  

These include:

  • Hospice
  • Home Delivered Meals
  • Durable Medical Equipment
  • Pharmacy Consultation

The Home Health Office is located at 9495 NC Hwy 305 in Jackson NC.  The office hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM Monday through Friday. 

Services may be paid by:

  • Medicare
  • Private Insurance
  • Medicaid
  • Veteran's Administration
  • Private Pay
  • Workman's Compensation

In addition other financial arrangements may be available. Charges are available upon request.
